Peru Fusion Ireland is delighted to announce that we have been selected as a finalist in three categories at the Dance Awards Ireland 2026.

This recognition celebrates different aspects of our work as a cultural organisation, from the performance and presentation of Peruvian traditional dance to our wider contribution to culture and community through dance.

• Social Impact through Dance

Each category recognises a different aspect of our work, from our ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting Peruvian dance in Ireland, to a specific performance presented at Peruvian Day 2026, and the role dance plays in bringing our community together.

Three categories, three different aspects of our work

Traditional or Cultural Dance Contribution

The Traditional or Cultural Dance Contribution category recognises sustained work in the preservation, development, teaching or promotion of traditional and culturally specific dance.

This reflects the ongoing work of Peru Fusion Ireland since our foundation in Dublin.

Through regular dance classes, rehearsals, workshops, cultural events and performances, we work to preserve and share Peruvian folklore while introducing audiences in Ireland to the country’s diverse dance traditions.

Our repertoire brings together dances from different regions of Peru, allowing our dancers and audiences to discover the cultural stories, music, movements and traditions behind each dance.

Our work is not limited to a single performance. It is an ongoing commitment to keeping Peruvian dance active, visible and accessible in Ireland.

Traditional or Cultural Dance Performance

The Traditional or Cultural Dance Performance finalist recognition relates specifically to our Peruvian Day 2026 performance.

For Peruvian Day, Peru Fusion Ireland developed an artistic journey through Peru’s three main geographical and cultural regions: the Andes, the Coast and the Amazon.

The performance featured 11 different Peruvian dances, bringing together traditional choreography, music, costumes, cultural rituals and visual storytelling.

The audience travelled from the Andes, through the Peruvian Coast and into the Amazon, experiencing the diversity of Peruvian folklore within one performance.

Presented at Peruvian Day 2026 at The Button Factory in Dublin, the performance was part of a wider celebration attended by approximately 600 people.

This finalist recognition is especially meaningful to our dancers because it acknowledges the artistic work, dedication and cultural research that went into creating and presenting this particular performance.

Social Impact through Dance

The Social Impact through Dance category recognises organisations and initiatives using dance as a meaningful tool for social change, community building and inclusion.

This reflects another important part of Peru Fusion Ireland’s work.

We believe dance can be much more than performance. It can create connection, belonging, confidence and opportunities for participation.

Our activities bring together people from different nationalities, ages and backgrounds through a shared interest in dance and culture.

For members of the Peruvian community, our activities can also provide a connection to their cultural heritage while living in Ireland.

At the same time, our doors are open to people from across the community who want to learn about Peruvian culture and take part.

Through dance classes, performances, workshops and cultural events, we create opportunities for people to meet others, learn new skills and participate in cultural life.

From one performance to a wider cultural mission

Together, these three finalist categories represent different parts of what Peru Fusion Ireland is trying to achieve.

Traditional or Cultural Dance Contribution recognises the ongoing work.

Traditional or Cultural Dance Performance recognises a specific artistic achievement — our Peruvian Day 2026 performance.

Social Impact through Dance recognises the people and community at the heart of what we do.

For us, these three areas are connected. We preserve culture by teaching it, we share it through performance, and we use dance to bring people together.

Celebrating Peruvian culture in Ireland

Peruvian Day 2026 was a particularly important moment in this journey.

Held on 26 July at The Button Factory in Temple Bar, the event brought together approximately 600 people for a celebration of Peruvian culture, featuring folklore dance, live music, food, drinks, DJs, an arts and crafts market and family activities.

The Peru Fusion Ireland performance was one of the central elements of the event, giving audiences an opportunity to experience Peru’s cultural diversity through dance.

For us, this is what cultural celebration is about: not simply presenting culture on a stage, but creating opportunities for people to experience, participate in and connect with it.

The winners will be announced at the Dance Awards Ireland 2026 Gala Awards Ceremony on:

We are incredibly proud to be finalists in all three categories and to have the work of our dancers, volunteers and community recognised by Dance Awards Ireland.

Whatever happens on the night, this recognition is already a wonderful milestone for Peru Fusion Ireland.
