About Peru Fusion Ireland – Celebrating Peruvian Culture Through Dance

Founded in Dublin on July 15th, 2022, Peru Fusion Ireland is the first Peruvian folklore dance group with a modern twist in Ireland. Born in the wake of the pandemic, the group emerged just as the country began returning to normal. With Peruvian Independence Day approaching, the stage was set for a cultural revival — and Peru Fusion Ireland was ready to shine.

Founded by Claudia Grandez, the idea began as a one-time performance at the Peruvian Meet Up, organized by Real Events Ireland. But the group’s passionate performance left a lasting impression, sparking overwhelming support and encouragement. What started as a simple gathering turned into something much more: a growing dance community celebrating Peruvian rhythms, traditional and modern, in the heart of Ireland.

Just eight months after its founding, Peru Fusion took part in the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade, appearing in national TV coverage including RTE live streaming with presenter Emer O’Neill. In a testament to the team’s dedication, members Shoshi Chong, Marilú Hickey, and Claudia Grandez created 15 vibrant traditional costumes for the event — a remarkable achievement in such a short time.

In June 2023, Peru Fusion made headlines, appearing on the front page of The Irish Times with a photo from the “Pucará Itinerant Bull” exhibition at the EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, an event hosted by the Peruvian Embassy in Ireland. This was not going to be the last time on the news, in 2024 Peru Fusion took over Ireland and became part of the announcement of the St. Patrick’s Festival Grand Marchall, Patrick Kielty.

What began with just four passionate women has grown into a vibrant group of 20 dancers, and continues to expand. United by a love for Peruvian dance, music, and cultural heritage, the members train regularly, sharing their roots with the Irish community and beyond.
