On July 27th, 2025, the Peruvian community in Ireland gathered in Dublin for an unforgettable Peruvian Independence Day celebration. This year’s Fiestas Patrias event brought together Peruvians, friends, and Latin American culture lovers for a day filled with music, traditional dance, delicious Peruvian food, and a deep sense of pride for our homeland.

Although we are far from Peru, the spirit of our country was alive in every moment. The red and white decorations, the joyful sounds music, and the aroma of authentic Peruvian dishes transported everyone straight to the streets of Peru.

A United Peruvian Community in Ireland

One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of the Peruvian Ambassador to Ireland, Ambassador Jaime Cacho-Souza,  who shared words of encouragement and appreciation for the community’s effort to keep our traditions alive abroad. His message reminded us that Peru is not just a place, it is in our hearts, our culture, and our unity.

The event was made possible thanks to the hard work of volunteers and dancers from Peru Fusion Ireland, our partners Latinmix and Mercaolé, and local businesses. Together, we created a true “home away from home” for everyone in attendance.

Peruvian Traditional Dances in Dublin

The cultural program featured a dazzling display of Peruvian folklore dances such as:

  • Festejo and Landó (Afro-Peruvian rhythm full of joy)
  • Huaylas (highland celebration dance)
  • Marinera (graceful coastal courtship dance)
  • Valicha and Carnaval (colourful Andean traditions)
  • Selva Mix (amazonian traditional and modern beats)

Performers wore vibrant costumes that represented the diversity of Peru’s regions, captivating the audience and keeping our folklore alive for future generations.

A Latin-American Craft Market for all

Adding even more colour and flavour to the celebration, a craft market featuring Latin American entrepreneurs welcomed visitors with unique handmade goods, artisanal products, and authentic flavours. From traditional jewellery and textiles to fashion products and gourmet treats, each stall told a story of creativity, heritage, and entrepreneurship.

The market was not only a chance to discover beautiful and unique items but also an opportunity to support small Latin American businesses in Ireland, helping them share their culture and craftsmanship with the wider community.

Peruvian Food and Live Latin Music

No Peruvian celebration is complete without food, and this event was a feast! Guests enjoyed anticuchos, pan con chicharrón, ají de gallina, arroz chaufa, pollada, arroz con leche and mazamorra morada lovingly prepared by the staff from Peru Fusion Ireland.

For the first time ever people were also able to get Inca Kolas, Pisco Sours and Chilcanos at the bar thanks to Mercaolé, the latin american shop and our partner for this event. The day continued with a performance of our special guests Son De Mi Tierra, from Colombia and live latin american music, thanks to Gabriel Cavagna and his band but the hora loca came after with peruvian beats that kept everyone dancing until the end.

Keeping Peru Close to Our Hearts

This Peruvian Independence Day in Dublin was more than just a party. It was a celebration of identity, resilience, and love for our homeland. For those of us living abroad, it was a reminder that even thousands of kilometres away, Peru lives through our traditions, our food, our music, and our community spirit.

¡Feliz Día de la Independencia, Perú! And see you again next year to celebrate together!
